Brand Story

Chemsterdam®️ is a brand created by Hans Ngo, a sommelier and distiller, born in Chengdu and acquired his master of business in the Netherlands. Chemsterdam is the combination of Chengdu and Amsterdam, trying to explain how innovation is effected by cultural crosses. Chemsterdam presents new Baijiu with authentic Baijiu and western spirits production techniques. Longtaitou is the first solera system Baijiu. And the other types of fusional Baijiu are on their way, including but not limited to Baijiu aged in oakwood barrels, Baijiu distilled with spices and etc. The slogan of Chemsterdam is Drinkable Innovation.

Limited Production

Given our commitment to adhering to the traditional Solera process for brandy aging, our limited 25-year aging capacity only allows us to produce 200 cases of Longtaitou annually. Of course, in a few years, we will be able to increase production to 300 cases.

Featured Chinese Calligraphy Art

On the sides of the box, there are the art work from one of the famous artists, Zongwei Li. He gifted the philosophical poem to Hans Ngo when he got to know Hans Ngo had been working on promoting Baijiu in the West.
It's worth noting that this character was written by Mr. Li Zongwei after he rotated the canvas 180°, which is completely opposite to the conventional direction of writing. This also expresses his intention to convey the meaning of the text through a combination of performance art and calligraphy.

顛三倒亖看世界,正兒八經讀人生

The phrase "顛三倒四看世界,正兒八經讀人生" is a Chinese saying that uses vivid imagery and numbers to convey a deeper meaning about perspectives on life and understanding human experiences. Literally, "顛三倒四" means "topsy-turvy" or "in a chaotic manner," suggesting a way of looking at the world in a non-traditional or unconventional manner. "看世界" means "to look at the world" or "to view the world."
On the other hand, "正兒八經" translates to "properly" or "in an orthodox manner," implying a serious, conventional approach. "讀人生" means "to read or understand life."
Putting it all together, the phrase suggests that one might explore the world in a chaotic or unconventional manner ("顛三倒四看世界"), but should understand life and human nature in a serious and orthodox way ("正兒八經讀人生"). It emphasizes the balance between being open to diverse perspectives and experiences while maintaining a grounded understanding of life's realities.

The Scene when Mr. Zongwei Li wrote the poem for Hans NgoPhosd

If everyone in the world could observe things, people, and cultures through the perspective of Mr. Li Zongwei, they would surely discover more beauty and avoid misunderstandings. This would be fundamental to fostering kindness between individuals and personal discoveries of the world's beauty. Enhancing aesthetic appreciation is the ultimate means to combat prejudice and conflict.
