Brand Story
Due to historical reasons, by the late 1980s, Cheerful Distillery, which had been in existence for nearly 100 years, transformed from a private small workshop into a public cooperative distillery. It became the local supplier of base spirits for unified brand products, ensuring the production capacity of well-known local brands could meet the planned economy market's demands. After 2000, a new round of economic reforms transitioned the distillery from a collective economic system to the assets of the Ji family, who were the main managers and technical directors of the distillery. At the same time, the largest local brand became the exclusive brand of another family due to privatization. Consequently, Cheerful Distillery had to forge its own path. The original co-branded product could no longer be used after a round of privatization reforms, compelling Cheerful Distillery to continue promoting its products under its own name. Despite low brand recognition, the product's quality rivals that of well-known local brands, while maintaining a very affordable price.
In 2019, the chairman of Cheerful Distillery hired Hans Ngo as a brand restructuring consultant, tasking him with developing a series that could serve as the distillery's flagship product. After two years of development, Hans Ngo and Cheerful Distillery's successor, Velynne Ji, through their joint venture company Hanji Liquor, introduced the first product of Cheerful Distillery, Centennial Cheerfulness·8, and plan to continue launching older vintages in the same series in the future.
Appearance: Crystal clear.
Nosing: Wet ripe lavender and tropical fruit, the mixture of banana and pineapple, fermented rices and dry muds.
Tasting: Smooth upon entry, with a lingering sweetness, a subtle tightening sensation appears on the sides of the back of the tongue; upon swallowing, the mouth immediately senses a refreshing coolness, followed by a wave of warmth flowing down the esophagus into the body, leading to a gentle perspiration shortly thereafter.
After taste: A nutty, caramel-like richness unfolds, accompanied by the earthy essence of sourdough and a hint of red peppers that seamlessly traverse from the tongue to the throat. Meanwhile, with each breath, a delightful chocolate undertone graces the palate, leaving behind a subtle, bittersweet chocolate sweetness on the tongue.
Note: Cheerful Distillery was established in 1978 on the ancient site of Qifu Town, according to official records. Following relevant regulations, only fermentation pits used continuously for over 20 years can be designated as "old pits." Therefore, all the fermentation pits at Qifu Distillery are considered old pits, possessing both historical significance and compliance with national standards. These old pits harbor microorganisms nurtured by the local environment of Mianzhu, playing a crucial role in imparting the distinctive regional flavors.
Not all regions in China are suitable for brewing, but Mianzhu has a long history of contributing to the production of liquor. Qifu Distillery remains committed to traditional craftsmanship, dedicated to providing aficionados of strong spirits with the unique flavors that we take pride in.
The third-generation leader of Qifu Distillery is passionate about strong spirits and aspires to provide the world with the distinct flavor of liquor from Mianzhu. Therefore, within the entire Mianzhu production area, aside from the local major brand Jiannanchun, Qifu Distillery stands out among unique small and medium-sized liquor enterprises as one of the first to attempt exporting Baijiu culture and products overseas. Simultaneously, the third-generation leader of Qifu Distillery and her partners are working hard to introduce more distinctive Chinese spirits to the world.
